Wonky Love

January at Whimsy Stamps brings a lot of really fun new products.
Both of these items, A Boy's Dream and
Wonky Window Die 1, are from the new release and so cool.

Other products used
Ranger Gold Embossing Powder
Copic Markers

The fun design of Wonky Window Die 1 is from both Denise Lynn and Deb Davis aka Amped2Stamp. The frame can be used alone as well as the inside cutouts. The inside comes with the stitched design to add some extra coolness.
I've used A Boy's Dream from Dustin Pike to create an out of this world scene.
These little monsters in this set and a blast. (pun not intended)
All images are colored with Copics
How I made my background; I've stamped the stars and embossed them in gold powder.
Then I took purple and dark blue pan pastel and with a flat paint brush zig zagged a bit of outer space.
Super easy.

I really love the new shadow words at Whimsy Stamps.
They just look so elegant.
I've used it on a previous card but thought it perfect with another January release item.

This was so super easy and quick.
I took the new  Quick Strips Dies and cut out a few different sizes/shapes. Attached them with any edge hanging over to prepare for a straight edge on the end
My original intent was to do this design all around but once I started the brain kicked in and ohhhh I love that Thanks Word and Shadow Die.
Once I got the strips attached, I ran through with the Hand Stitched Nested Rectangle Die Set to keep the design constant.
That's it.
So many possibilities.

Havin' a Blast

Blastin' off for FUN!!!!
How cool is this set from super man Dustin Pike?
AND this background stamp is AWESOME!!!

I really did have a blast with this one.

A Boy's Dream Clear Stamp Set
Moon Background

I think this stamp set is all that is needed. No fancy dies, although you could...
I do really struggle with "pretty"
This one was interesting for me to place the little guys on the planet where I wanted them before adding the background. So what'd I do? :D I put the preview image (cause I get to see it hehe) in a word doc and cropped the little monsters and moved them around a bit.
I inserted a rectangle the size of my card to make sure everything would match up.
Then using that as a guideline, I stamped my images from A Boy's Dream Clear Stamp Set, masked them off and then added the Moon Background.
tricks of the trade lol.
Hope your day is outta this world too.

Thanks in Bloom

We sometimes forget to fully appreciate the little things in life.
Today's project is a big thanks for all those things.

I am absolutely in love with how this turned out and sooooo easy to make.
I took coordinating card stock, cut a top and bottom with Wavy Edgers Die Set. Fit those together and then trimmed to size. I added a simple background border to pop my colors. With pearl strips, I outlined those two pieces.
Finally with the same colors of coordination, I cut out all three layers of the Thanks Word and Shadow Die and I am all set to give thanks.

Forever in my heart

I love pushing the limits with product to see what it can really do.
I had a blast doing that today with this incredible stencil, perfect for loads of occasions.

Other Whimsy Stamps products used:

What I've done is take the Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in Mother of Pearl, put a little in a paint palette, drop about 5 drops of a red shade copic refil and create an iridescent color. I created 3 different shades. Next, I added the darkest color the the outer edge and worked in. I did add a few darker spots to break of the light center but keeping it overall light as I was adding some Sparkletz - Love Hearts to make a shaker.
Once I was finished and my color had dried, I distressed the edge and took a red pan pastel to pop the outside.
Using some red foam strips, I formed around the white, heart portion that the Speckled Heart Stencil creates. I used 3 layers of foam tape to give clearance to Sparkletz - Love Hearts. With another strip of the red foam, I glued around the outer edge to give a finished look.
I added a few of the Sparkletz - Love Hearts to the base of my card and a tiny little rose.
You're My Always Clear Stamp Set sentiment finished off my project.
Super fun!.

In the Day

I love the line, "Back in my day".
Sadly, I'm at that point where I have been around enough to use it.

Today's project will hopefully give you a giggle. Even if you haven't started using the phrase yet ;)

This sweet man is from a super hilarious, clear rubber set from the
Deb Davis aka Amped2Stamp line with Whimsy Stamps called

Other Whimsy Stamps products used today are:

The sentiment I chose instantly created the whole scene.
so my geezer could move up his hill. The hill was created from the smooth curved piece in Kinetic Curved Hills Die Set
Adding the Kinetic Curved Basics Die Set allowed his movement.
I stamped the word "Geezer" on the pull tab just to add something extra.
As I put my pieces together for a test run, I decided to add some buildings.
What better then the curved row of houses in the Dash Away Clear Stamp Set. I masked off some and stamped in to make the row as long as the hill.
I sprayed my clouds with the torn kitchen towel technique and loved how it all went together.
But then, I had the final piece still waiting to be added.
Punching out two sets of the New Old Fart Large Word Die.
and with the smallest die from Hand Stitched Nested Rectangle Die Set, I cut out two simple white pieces of card stock. Then inserted a piece of black just slightly larger between them. Then glued one set of my New Old Fart Large Word Die letters on each side.

Here in the open view, you can see what I've now done with that rectangle piece.
I left a small rectangle up at the top when I cut the base and placed a notch up to the fold line.
Then I placed my rectangle inside to find where I needed to place my angled crease line.
Once I got it into place, I glued my inside base to the front base.
Now when my card is opened, my "Old Fart" pops up.
To finish off, I added a sentiment inside.

Below is the view from the front.

To see the whole thing in action, check out the video below.

That's all from me today.
Hope I gave you a giggle too.

To Hum a Bird

Happy New Year
The holidays are past and its time to showcase some new items at
Whimsy Stamps.
I'm super excited to start my year off with this incredible image,
Hummingbird and Columbine from the DoveArt Studios line.

Other Whimsy Stamps products used are:

I started off my Hummingbird and Columbine by finding a reference photo as close as possible to the direction and flight pose.
Then I began to dissect the color grouping.
It's really amazing how many colors are in the hummingbird and how to shift into each other.
I used my copics to get the base layers down using a lighter shades.
Then I got a nice sharp point on my prismas pencils and began my feathered strokes.
The Columbine, I made a solid red instead of gradient look you'd mostly see
My back base layer, I wanted to be lime to really bring out the lime in the bird.
This layer was cute out with the Notched Square Die Set.
Next, I took the Straight Edger Die Set to both ends of a previously cut out strip.
Again with a color to bring out from the bird.
I cut around the outer direction of the edger to create the shaped edge.
My placement of my strip was chosen so that it did not become even or be an extension of any part of the image but creating it's own area so that it stood alone and the image was the focal point.
The bird was then fussy cut and attached to the base.
Finally, I added some Enamel Dots in Summer Breeze and
popped on a sentiment from Beaucoup Bouquet Sentiments

Coloring birds is one of my favorite things.
This was definitely a happy time.
